Mel-o-drama

So bloomin' busy....

We had an incredibly busy...but oh so fun weekend.
The trees are just exploding with color and blooming buds here in NY.
 
This apple tree at the edge of our lawn is my favorite...
it is the palest and prettiest shade of pink right now...
pictures definitely do not do it justice.
Anyway...onto the scrapping...
even though we were super busy...
I managed to find some time last night to sit at the scrap table and just play:)

Supplies used: kraft and white cardstock/ blue flower-Sassafras Lass, Green flower-Prima/ Patterned paper- Echo Park For the Record/ Letter stickers- Sassafrass Lass/ misc-bling and buttons 
The boy snapped this picture of M and I in front of that aforementioned pretty tree...and lo and behold I actually kind of liked the picture...which if you read my blog... you know... rarely happens. So...of course I scrapped it right away:) 

The Layout below was done after one of those hard to swallow that lump in my throat Mommy moments. You know the kind where your child...who it seems like you just brought home from the hospital 5 minutes ago...is suddenly old enough to try something new and kind of scary...yeah that kind of Mommy moment.  I guess the journaling explains it all.

worktable wednesday....

on thursday:)
Working on some custom paintings today!
I always hate them mid-way through the process...
we really are our own worst critics right?
Or maybe the painting is just that bad?
Not sure which it is but I definitely needed a break for a minute.
Thought I would share a glimpse at my mess of a worktable though....

 
Yes that is the painting in question...
it is meant to semi-coordinate with this line of bedding from Target...

 
It is going to live with a VERY special little girl...
who just got her very own big girl bed...
and we all know what a big deal that is...
soooo...I think that is why I am wanting it to be perfect.
Do you ever do this to yourself during the creative process? 
I definitely get in a funk sometimes.
I find if I walk away and do some laundry...or clean the kitchen...or even blog for that matter...I always seem to go back to it with fresh eyes.
Here's hoping it works for me today...
because that aforementioned special little girl  is one of my very favorite little girls in the whole wide world....and her parents are pretty darn awesome too:) 
Well...back to the drawing board I go!

This is my last month designing with CT and to say I am sad about seeing this job go is definitely an understatement:(

journaling reads: The Recipe for Happy Kids? I by no means claim to have it! In fact most days I am still experimenting and praying the recipe yields good results. This much I know...every family has it's own secret recipe passed down from generation to generation and tweaked slightly with each batch. While I will likely remain unsure of the proper prep times for many years, I am hoping that the ingredients Time, Patience, and a whole lot of LOVE will prove to produce a delicious result.
I also created this little mini recipe book which I plan to fill with magazine clippings and recipes from the internet that catch my eye. I know those of you who have followed my blog for awhile know about my deep love of cooking (yes I am being sarcastic)  I said I plan to fill this book up with recipes...I said nothing about actually cooking  the recipes. There's a big difference:)

Holy BUSY Batman...

I seriously never planned to be away from the blog for this long....
but for reals we have been so super busy!
How about a little random recap okay?

♥Easter was fantastic:)
♥The kids report cards could not have been any better:)
♥May is already booked to the max...I couldn't fit another thing on the calendar if I tried.
♥We got a new couch:)
♥The new couch also lead to new curtains and new throw pillows...(pics coming soon since I am still waiting on a couple of pillows from Etsy:)
♥it also lead to a few DIY projects....
 
I so wish I had taken a before shot of this ugly TV cabinet.  You all know how much I love woodgrain in my scrappy projects right? Well....I got a woodgraining tool from the hardware store for $4 and this is the end result. It looks 10 times better IRL but hopefully you can see how cool the effect is! Here's a closeup of the job halfway through....
 
Let's see....what else???   
♥Evan was the narrator and director of a small play at school. He made me so proud:) 
♥♥♥and....somewhere between the last 4 or 5 Board meetings at school Hubby decided that he would run for an open seat and we have been swamped with getting petitions signed....more meetings and meet the candidates events...craziness....but so worth it:) 
♥Oh yeah....and....be sure to stay tuned to the Nikki Sivils blog because somebody I know just might be Willie B's Guest Designer over there this month;)
